About ICSDH

Faculty of Health Sciences Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka (UHAMKA) – Indonesia, in collaboration with Graduate School of Public Health Sciences, presents International Conference on Social Determinants of Health (ICSDH) with a theme “Scaling up socio-religious determinants for better health” that will take place in Jakarta, 28th November 2018. WHO stated that the social determinants of health are the conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, and age, and the wider set of forces and systems shaping the conditions of daily life. These forces and systems include economic policies and systems, development agendas, social norms, social policies and political systems. As one of significant factors, global political commitment has been made for the implementation of a social determinants of health approach to reduce health inequities and to achieve other global priorities. Furthermore, as a part of social determinants, attention to the role of religion in health also has increased.

The conference will be a medium for academicians, activists, decision-makers, and practitioners who work on health and related sciences or fields to gather, strengthen the network and exchange their experiences, research, knowledge, concepts, the example of good practice and critical analysis with their international peers. Moreover, with the reputable invited speakers, this conference will be a proper place to share and discuss about the influence of social determinants, mainly from the religious perspective, on the health of population.
